Jones served as PMAA Region 5 Director from 2004 – 2007 and from 2010 – 2013. In 2018, he received the Sahli Service Award for 20 years of service to The Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown. Jones was appointed to The Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown Board of Directors on January 13, 1998 and served until September 9, 2019. Deanna Hassinger, Business Manager for the Authority stated “He was a positive force for authority growth across Mifflin County by encouraging growth by expanding the water system to serve residential developments as well as new industrial development in the area. Jones was an active Board member. He stopped in weekly to fulfill his duties as a Board member and kept a close pulse on the Authority’s activities.” Craig Bubb, Executive Director of the authority, shared that Jones’ daughter and granddaughter told Craig how much he enjoyed, and was proud of, the Authority and his service to it. They also specifically mentioned how much he loved PMAA, the staff and especially the Annual Conferences. Jones was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1951, U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of Big Valley Bible Church, and was active in local Republican party polling activities and events. Jones was employed by the Mifflin County School District in maintenance prior to retiring and was a funeral attendant for Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes for many years.
